I can’t say I was born and raised in the same house—or even in the same state. Although I don’t remember the places I lived before I turned 4, I’ll tell you about the two that were the most significant. The first was my paternal grandparents’ house (nonos), where we moved when I was 4 and lived until I was 10. I think I’ve mentioned in another post that it was right next to the school, which was a huge advantage because my mom would pass me a warm breakfast over the fence during recess. Plus, since we didn’t have to wake up that early to go to school, living there worked out really well while I was in elementary school. We weren’t the only ones in that house—my nonos and my aunt (my dad’s sister) lived there too. I feel like my sister and I didn’t have much privacy, though maybe little girls don’t need it that much.
