Many people sorta believe that (extraterrestrial) aliens exist, but it hasn't moved to a point where people KNOW they exist. So, what happens when the pentagon finally says, yes, aliens are here? We have "crashed" UFO in secret underground military bases (What?!! D.U.M.B.s are real?) And we have been in contact with them for decades. What happens when we have a "television show" of people interacting with aliens, having a discussion or something? Whatever your level of doubt needs to be filled before you believe, it happens. Soooo, aliens are here. Now what? What will the Ivory Tower Scientists do? Think about the number of "scientific" ponderings that are just answered. All of those razors that say that aliens can't exist (because it is too improbable) and aliens can't be here (because speed of light and too much energy needed) all get thrown in the dust bin.
