Since the company gave us the entire Holy Week off, I decided to visit Colombia’s capital: Bogotá. It’s a city with a fascinating history dating back to pre-Columbian times, when it was inhabited by the Muisca, one of the country’s most important indigenous cultures. Years later, in 1538, it was founded by Gonzalo Jiménez de Quesada, eventually becoming the political, cultural, and economic heart of Colombia. During my stay, I stayed in the city center, very close to historic and iconic sites such as Bolívar Park, La Séptima, the Gold Museum, Journalists’ Park, and the Quevedo Fountains. Being surrounded by so much history and culture made the experience even more special. This time I traveled by bus for financial reasons, since flights, if not booked in advance, tend to be more expensive.
