You may have walked down a street and been captivated by the charms of magic performed by magicians. These photos I am sharing with you are part of the work I do for a magic event that takes place in Coimbra, Portugal, called Encontros Mágicos (Magical Encounters). Every year, during the third week of September, dozens of international magicians gather in Coimbra for street performances, shows at the pediatric hospital and prison, and international galas (in closed venues). This event is produced by renowned magician Luís de Matos, considered one of the best magicians in the world today. He won the Merlin Award - Magician of the Decade (2010), awarded by the International Magicians Society as the best magician of the decade (2000-2010). In 2013, he received “The Devant Award,” awarded by The Magic Circle—the largest and most prestigious club of magicians in the world. His show “Impossible sur Scène,” presented at the Folies Bergère in Paris, was nominated for Les Billets d'Or in 2024.
