I attended a unique birthday party this weekend at El Retiro Park, with the sun shining, plenty of delicious food to share, and games to keep us entertained. Taking advantage of the increasingly clear, blue skies, we spent a very pleasant afternoon filled with laughter and stories. We watched the sunset dip behind the park’s hills, and the trees took on a beautiful hue that matched the orange hues painting the sky. I think I should go on picnics more often because of the sense of peace I felt. Then we went to my friend’s house—the birthday girl—who had bought a delicious cake, and there we sang “Happy Birthday” and enjoyed another delicious meal.
