Thanks to everyone in Hive, Skatehive, and Liketu for keeping the spirit alive. Today I spent about an hour trying to land a hellflip. I got close—really close. There’s something about that trick that inspires me deeply. It feels impossible, but I know I can crack it. I didn’t want to practice anything else. I believe that if you focus on one thing, by the end of the day you’ll have unlocked technique and revived forgotten habits. I managed to take some better shots from underneath the ramp. The light hit just right. Still, skating here in San Cristóbal, Venezuela, is tough. The Metropolitan Park is beautiful, but it’s full of uncomfortable obstacles. Parents with babies walk right into the ramps, unaware of the danger. If we accidentally bump into them, they blame the skaters. It’s frustrating. The authorities don’t care.
