It was time to head back to the seldom visited island of Lana'i. This time I had four guests with me who were pretty experienced mountain bikers. After a quick talk with the bike guides, we decided to try a trail that we had never done before. It turned out to be a pretty wild downhill, through some of the coolest terrain, on the north side of Lana'i. We could see the ocean beyond, and other Hawaiian islands off in the distance. The trade winds kept us cool, although it was still hard work trying to keep the bike steady over the bumpy downhill track. Eventually we got to an overlook where we could see the old shipwreck on the northern reef of Lana'i. The uphill to get back ontop of the island seemed daunting, but luckily we had e-bikes. So everyone punched it into boost mode and flew up the hill. We ended up going through pine forest, old plantation red dirt tracks, and even a little bit on the Munro trail which follows the top rim of the volcano that makes Lana'i. On an island that on
