I believe there is no other figure in any genre as prominent as the maestro I've drawn, Willie Colon. Arranger and composer, he was one of the pillars upon which the Salsa genre relied for decades, becoming one of its architects. Of Hispanic parents but born in the United States, Willie Colon knew how to give Salsa an urban touch it lacked in other eras, bringing the spirit of the Bronx streets to the Hispanic experience, thus creating a unique fusion. He left this world a few weeks ago, and it had a profound impact on me. I created this drawing inspired by previous works on receipts, but here I've altered the original content to include the titles of his most memorable songs.
