The midweek growers’ theme is FIRST OF THE SEASON. Here on the farm the first things up were daffodils. There were also some tulips up in the New West garden. But there’s not much of anything else yet. When I went out at 7AM to get photos, the sun was hitting the magnolia tree’s buds and they glowed in the sunlight. Inside we have now started 22 trays of seedlings. So far, the storage onions and the mesclun are growing like crazy. But we also have these up: Arnica Heliotrope Violas Verbascum Kale Walla onions Phacelia Gaillardia The rest will come up in the next 10 days or so. The storage onions have fans on them to strengthen the stems and they all have High Output T5 plant lights with 6400K and red spectrum bulbs. And they are in front of south or east facing windows. So things are slowly progressing here in Western Mass.
