Getting back to the basics with a quick but detailed pencil drawing. After spending some time diving into ink and strong black-and-white contrast to emphasize lights and shadows, I felt the need to return to the soft texture of graphite, as the finish is more personal and realistic. This piece is a female figure study that focuses on the back and its curved form. What I most wanted to showcase in the scene is how the light reveals the volume of the muscles, the shoulders, and the glutes, creating distinct planes of light and shadow. I wanted the drawing to feel intimate and real; her calm and confident expression helps make the drawing more pleasant. I aimed to capture the sensation of the skin and the hair gathered in a messy bun. I'm particularly fascinated by the way the shadow marks the center of the back and defines the hip. Technical Details: Medium: Graphite pencil; I used a 3B for the deepest shadows. Focus: The light comes from above and slightly from the right, accentuating t
