Ricaurte Avenue in Montalbán (Carabobo, Venezuela) is the back street to my house. It's the same street where, some 50 years ago, I used to spend hours in the afternoons playing marbles, riding my bike, flying kites, or simply getting into spectacular group fights with the other neighborhood kids 😂... It was the mid-1970s, and I still don't understand how we "survived" such a rough childhood, but I recognize that they were happy years despite the occasional broken tooth and frequent bruises all over our bodies... But even today, Ricaurte Avenue remains an integral part of my daily life, and that's why yesterday, in the middle of the afternoon, when we suffered one of the now-frequent power outages, I simply grabbed my camera and decided to wander around "my back street" to pass the time and see how some of my neighbors were doing.
