Hello lovely people, long time no see! I have been down with a bit of a head cold and have been slowly catching back up. I have been thinking about what art I would make for the folklore challenge and I'm happy I slid it in before the end of March! I had a few different ideas but mermaids/sirens were the first to come to mind, I live in Nova Scotia and our province is surrounded by the sea so very naturally there is a history of mermaid stories from sailors and people living on the coast. I also decided to use the title beware of the black rocks because variations of this phrase are very commonly said to warn people of the very present and real danger of the sea. Black rocks along the coast line indicate that a wave has recently swept over those rocks which can make them very slippery and create a danger of falling in. Also that obviously means that if you walk there another wave could sweep over and pull you in. This is a very real problem, so much so that our major tourist destinatio
