Memories of Seeing a Dead Whale- Version 2 I created this artwork titled “Memories of Seeing a Dead Whale-Version 2” the other day. I originally made this cut-paper artwork a few years ago, and this time I created a different version with a new background. I wanted to make it dramatic, slightly frightening, and dream-like, even though it is based on a real experience from my childhood. The experience was so shocking that it still feels vivid and realistic to me. I had never seen such a huge wild animal right in front of me. Sadly, the big, beautiful whale was dead. It was upside down, just like in this artwork. Even though it was no longer alive, its presence felt incredibly powerful. If it had been found fresh, maybe people could have done something instead of letting it go to waste. But by the time we found it, animals and insects were already eating it little by little. I remember wishing it could return to the ocean before dying. I walked closer to look at its skin. I felt so sorry
