For a while now, I’ve been seeing this payment processor here in Ecuador. Since I’m pretty much a crypto maxi—a Hive maxi, to be completely fair—I paid little attention to it. But I’ve been forced to take a second look. You see, it makes sense to piggyback off accepted ideas. The fact that people here in Ecuador are already doing commerce by scanning a QR code isn’t something I should ignore. So, I did the only reasonable thing: I downloaded the app myself. Turns out, it’s nothing more than a bank account wrapped in a QR blanket. Nothing revolutionary about the system itself, but it has accomplished something I can’t discard: the familiarity of paying with your cell phone, of not having to use cash for every single transaction. That shift in thinking is huge—and very positive for us Hiveans, for us proponents of the HBD economy. Then today, almost as if the planets aligned, my friend @beelzael brought up this app again.
