Yesterday, I went to Rio de Janeiro to fulfill a dream. That dream was to see, for the very first time, the soccer team I support play. Before the match, I took a tour around the area where the stadium is located, in a favela in Rio de Janeiro, in the São Cristóvão neighborhood. I went to a well-known spot called Mirante da Colina, which is basically a house on top of a hill, from where you can perfectly see the stadium. Anyway, I’ll leave the full story of this whole experience for another time. While I was there, a seagull appeared, it seemed much less scared than I was to be in that place. It briefly flew over the area, and I took a few photos since I had my phone in hand. In the background, way in the background, you can see the Christ the Redeemer and part of the stadium where, a few hours later, I would be. Rio de Janeiro, even with the contrast between the poverty of the communities and the lushness of nature, is still, for me, one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited.
