There are 3 parkruns in the Somerset Region about an hour and half west of Brisbane, finishing this one made us Somerset Regionairs. I really liked this map which showed the Valley, the Brisbane River and Wivenhoe Dam. The course is on the BVRT Brisbane Valley Rail Trail, the old disused 160 kilometer long train line that used to service this area. Thankfully we only had to run a flattish 5 kilometers. They had a really cool key minding board. The old station is just sitting there as if it was still in use. 105 people showed up for there fifth event, it is still quite a new event and there were many people I us, visiting and collecting there stats. Lots of people use the BVRT for cycling, hiking and even horse back riding. You still have to be careful as it crosses a lot of roads and goes through many small country towns.
