Warm regards! Since it’s March—a month dedicated to women—I thought I’d share some photos I’ve been saving for a special post. I definitely felt the time was right to do this, and now is the moment to share them with the @visualshots community. But first, let me tell you that I took these photos last year when I spent a few months in my beloved country, Venezuela. These photos I managed to take capture the lives of Venezuelan women; most are elderly, though some are a bit younger. All of them are examples of resilience in the face of resignation to a life lacking basic services, such as a supply of cooking gas—a task so everyday, necessary, and vital... We Venezuelan women are masters at hiding our suffering behind a smile. In the photos, you’ll see faces that appear serene but are also hardened by suffering, by exhaustion, by worry, and most likely by an ailment caused by some illness that cannot be treated in the country. That’s the kind of thing that happens in my Venezuela. I know
