In 2007, I was invited to direct a skateboarding program for FIZ TV, a collaborative branch of Editora Abril. Launched as a pay-TV channel aimed at children and pre-teens, it had an interactive concept, with shows that encouraged viewers to participate via the internet. Anyone could submit content through the FIZ TV website, and if selected, it would air on TVA’s programming. The content creators were paid for their contributions. At just 19 years old, Jhony Melhado shares a bit of his journey shortly after winning first place at the King of São Paulo championship.
