You got this couple Kristen and James already dealing with their own relationship mess and then three random psychos show up just because they felt like it which is probably the scariest part of the whole damn thing. The simplicity is what makes it work so well, there is no demon possession, no curse from some ancient witch, no zombie outbreak, just three people in creepy masks who decided to ruin your life because you happened to be home that night and I cannot think of anything more terrifying than that straight up randomness.
