Nothing crazy, I’ve done 150kg for reps before. This should’ve been routine. I unracked, got into position… and then it happened. I went down and couldn’t come back up. Collapsed under the weight. First time ever. Not gonna lie, it was embarrassing. But more than that, it exposed something deeper, I lost the mental battle. Immediately after, I was scared to step under the bar again. 110kg suddenly felt heavy in a way it never had before. That’s when it clicked. Barbell squats aren’t just physical. They’re mental. Once your mind checks out, your body follows. I stood there for a bit, reset myself, and eventually got back under the bar. Finished two more sets. Not pretty, last one stopped at six reps, but I got through it and completed the workout. Small win, but it mattered. Like one of the guys at
