It was well over 400 years old, and it got me thinking I should share some more of my European collection. So I dug into my files and pulled out one I've been meaning to share for some time, a Swiss 2 Franc silver coin. I've always been a bit of a sucker for coins from Switzerland, and I usually pick them up if the price is right. This one in particular I picked up at a jewelry shop nearby several years ago. He buys gold and silver and usually sends it off the be melted down, but when he comes across coins he thinks I might like he hangs onto to them. This was one of those that I'm glad he kept. It's not the biggest coin in the world but it is in nice condition considering it's 87 years old! It was minted in 1939, which was a very bad year for Europe as it was the start of World War II.
