Only 4 months later but I did promise.... a short blog on our hunt for Banksy's street art in Bristol, his home town. Banksy is a pseudonymous street artist believed to have emerged from Bristol, England, in the 1990s. Known for his anonymity and sharp political satire, Banksy uses stencils and public spaces to deliver messages about war, capitalism, surveillance, consumerism, and social injustice. His work often combines dark humor with simple, striking imagery—rats, policemen, children, and soldiers recur as symbols of power, resistance, and innocence. Now when researching the background to this particular mural I am undecided as to whether this is in fact a Banksy project. Banksy’s Wild Wild West mural is a relatively early and lesser-known work that reflects his sharp critique of authority, surveillance, and the misuse of power. The piece depicts a riot police officer riding a bucking horse, styled like a cowboy in a rodeo. Courtesy of ChatGTP you understand my reason for doubting?
