The DIY Macaé collective emerged with the purpose of fostering and organizing the local skateboarding community. Since 2015, the collective has been holding cultural events for skateboarders in the city and surrounding areas, contributing to the strengthening of the local scene and promoting healthy practices, especially among young people. Skateboarding is promoted as a tool for social inclusion, education, culture, and citizenship. Using their own resources, skaters gradually came together, investing their labor and personal funds to purchase materials and build obstacles. These constructions were carried out in the Parque da Cidade, a place that, despite its precarious conditions, provided many local skateboarders with an environment of support and inclusion.
