I skated the santo amaro skatepark a week before it officially opened. This night was the official inauguratory celebration for the skatepark, the skate scene, and the santo amaro favela people. We returned to the favela to witness the christening of the new park. We showed up and the place was packed with people. music was blaring, people were on the microphone screaming, so i skated down in the soccer field with the little kids for a while. It was down there that I met Felipe Motta, who is a graphic artist. He does work for Uprise skateshop in chicago. I have heard his name but never met him and it was awesome. I helped Joao film some clips and then i went back up to the park to see what was happening. People were sending it and the park itself is tiny. It was chaos and way more fun to watch than it would have been if i tried to skate.
