Kicking off Holy Week 2026 on March 28, the day finally arrived to celebrate my niece Maoly’s 15th birthday—she’s my brother Mao’s eldest daughter. With her, the cycle of quinceañeras has come to a close, since my daughter celebrated hers in 2017, my niece Neferet last year, and now Maoly this year—I don’t have any more nieces. The party was held at a very beautiful place called Posada La Casita, which, although it doesn’t currently serve that purpose, is well-maintained. The owners are friends of our family, but they are currently living on Margarita Island, and her husband Peter is in Germany.
